We were delighted to hear the news about the latest Sam Banks Bursary Student who was selected at Pathshala Academy this academic year. Salma Khatun is a young woman from Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh. Her photography captures the vibrancy and motion of rural life in her home village of Paherpur and was published by the UNICEF project ‘Do You See My World?’* in 2009.
Whilst studying photography at the academy she is also taking English language classes. We wish her a happy and productive three years.
Please find out more about the Pathshala South Asian Media Academy on their website http://www.pathshala.net.
*The description of this project on the website: In September 2009, 30 Bangladeshi adolescents in rural communities joined a Government- and UNICEF-supported photography workshop, part of global tributes to the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
